CARE OF PIECES

At BOATO, we take pride in the quality of our materials and the craftsmanship of our jewelry. With proper care, each piece can accompany you for years and be passed on from generation to generation.

Below, we share some recommendations to keep your jewelry in perfect condition.

DAILY USE

BOATO designs are delicate and require special attention.

  • Avoid direct exposure to fragrances, soaps, lotions, cosmetics, and chemicals, as they can alter the color, shine, or structure of the pieces.

  • Do not wear your jewelry in the shower, pool, or sea, nor expose it to high temperatures (such as prolonged direct sunlight).

  • We recommend removing your jewelry during sports, gardening, or any activity that may cause impact or friction.

HOW TO CLEAN JEWELRY

  • 316L surgical steel is resistant to corrosion and wear, making it the ideal base for all our pieces.

  • Some pieces feature additional plating over 316L steel:

    • 18K gold plating: avoid contact with perfumes, creams, or seawater. Clean gently with a dry cloth to maintain its shine.

    • Black (PVD or special coating): avoid abrasive cleaners. Clean with a microfiber cloth and store separately to prevent scratches.

  • Natural leather is porous: avoid perfumes and keep away from water or excessive humidity. Clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth, without detergents, and store bracelets in a dry, ventilated place. You may occasionally condition the leather with a neutral cream designed for skin.

  • For clasps and fastenings, dry magnets thoroughly if they come into contact with water to prevent corrosion.

  • Cubic zirconia stones add brilliance and sophistication to several of our pieces. Avoid strong impacts, as stones may loosen. Clean with a dry cloth or soft-bristled brush; never use harsh chemicals.

MACRAMÉ THREADS

Our stone bracelets feature an internal macramé thread that provides strength and comfort.

  • Avoid getting it wet or overstretching it.

  • Due to natural wear, we recommend a thread replacement every 3 to 6 months. This service is available at all our stores for $8.90.

PROTECTION

  • Store your pieces in an individual case with a fabric lining, separate from other jewelry to avoid scratches or impacts.

  • Natural stones, being minerals, can scratch softer materials: always store them separately.

CARE OF STONES

Onyx

Onyx is relatively resistant and suitable for daily wear. To maintain its deep color and shine over time:

  • Store in a fabric-lined case, separate from other stones or metals that may scratch it.

  • Remove during sports to avoid impacts.

  • Avoid contact with chemicals such as perfumes, creams, or sanitizers.

  • Clean with lukewarm soapy water and a soft brush; dry immediately with a microfiber cloth.

Malachite

Malachite is admired for its vivid green tones but is naturally soft and delicate.

  • Always store in an individual, fabric-lined case to prevent scratches.

  • Never expose to water, humid heat, perfumes, lotions, or abrasive products, as they may whiten or dull its surface.

  • Avoid strong impacts or pressure.

  • Clean only with a dry, soft cloth.

Tiger’s Eye

Tiger’s Eye is durable and prized for its golden-brown reflections.

  • Store in a fabric-lined case, separate from other pieces.
